We’re excited to announce that Surfrider Kenai Peninsula is partnering with the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies (CACS) and Alaska Plastic Recovery for this year’s CoastWalk Clean-Up! Join us on Saturday, September 7th at Bishop’s Beach Pavilion from 11 AM - 3 PM to kick off a month of marine debris awareness, stewardship, and community action.

Why CoastWalk Matters
Since 1984, CoastWalk has brought together volunteers who care deeply about Kachemak Bay’s dynamic shorelines. This grassroots effort not only helps clean up our beaches but also collects critical data on marine debris and coastal wildlife. From observational data on marine life to signs of human impact, CoastWalk ensures that our beautiful coastlines are preserved for future generations.

What’s Happening at the Kickoff?
Our free kickoff event is packed with activities for everyone, including:

  • A Kickoff Cookout to fuel your beach cleaning energy
  • Marine debris crafts where you can paint a buoy to take home or display
  • Marine debris lawn games like Buoy Bocce, ring toss, kuub, and more!
  • A Bishop’s Beach clean-up to jumpstart the CoastWalk efforts
